ELORA – Centre Wellington council heard from a consultant on the future of intensification in the township at a meeting on Tuesday.
Presented four options to intensify over the next 28 years, Watson and Associates made a presentation to staff with four different scenarios.
Scenarios one to three ranged from 20-25 per cent intensification rates spanning until 2051.

Councillor Bronwnynne Wilton stated option four would be beneficial.

Wilton said she was in favour of growing up and not out, voicing her support for scenario four, with a 30 per cent rate of intensification.
Wilton’s scenario of choice would see a rate of 55 people and jobs per hectare, according to the presentation.
She added many different housing types would be at the township’s disposal with this scenario.
Scenario three was recommended by the consultant.
A Wellington County report has identified the following land need for the Township of Centre Wellington:
• 238 hectares for community area uses
• 160 hectares for employment area uses, and;
• A total land need of 398 hectares.
The presentation states council’s chosen method could have impacts on “local planning, phasing and servicing plans.”
