MAPLETON – Council in Mapleton will have a new compensation policy moving forward.
After conducting an investigation of multiple other municipalities, the township has decided on one of three presented options for 2024 and onwards.
Option one of three was selected at a meeting Tuesday. Mapleton staff will now move forward by taking the average of Consumer Price Index numbers, ending in August of each year.
The chosen method was opposed by councillor Michael Martin, who said he would have would have rather stood pat with current regulations and frequent check-ins.
Mayor Gregg Davidson and several other councillors voiced support for option one.
Councillor Marlene Ottens disagreed with the idea of leaving the wage structure as is, stating the importance of a framework.
Currently, the model is similar to the chosen method, but includes the month of August.
The newly-selected structure will take effect in January.
