WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County’s economic development committee will be presenting the preliminary 10-year plan at a meeting tomorrow.
Major highlights include transit options and activities such as talent attraction.
As for the Ride Well program, as approved by the committee in June, there has been an increase in the service level for Ride Well that was implemented on July 1, 2023.
The provincial funding is set to end in March 2025 for the program and the ten-year forecast currently reflects the program ending at that time.
A $50,000 contribution to the Ontario Health Team of Wellington and Guelph for doctor recruitment is included in the 2024 budget, contingent upon equal support from the City of Guelph and Guelph Chamber of Commerce.
An administration, finance and human resources meeting tomorrow will also have a ten-year plan presented to staff. The preliminary ten-year capital forecast projects a total capital investment of $562.9 million over the next ten years.
Included in this amount is $262.8 million invested in roads, bridges, and culverts, and $109.9 million in roads facilities and equipment.
This represents over 66 per cent of capital spending.
The preliminary ten-year forecast relies on $81.8 million in debt funding for several projects including the Erin ambulance station and garage.
Both committee meetings are tomorrow, running back-to-back.
Economic development will get going at 10 a.m. and administration, finance and human resources will follow at 1 p.m.
