ERIN – A proposed tax increase in Erin of 7.8 per cent was presented to council members at a meeting yesterday.
That number is forecasted to drop down to just over six per cent in 2025, and lower in the following two years, to just over a singular percent increase for each of those years.
Councillor Cathy Aylard says even though she can’t pinpoint a new number, she hopes this year’s jump can dip lower.
Agreeing with Aylard, town Treasurer and Director of Finance Wendy Parr says hopes are high.
A variety of factors are influencing the budget.
$1.3 million towards a series of key projects, including a tennis court renovation and a traffic consolidation study highlight the document.
The budget will return to staff at a future meeting of council.
