MAPLETON – Council in Mapleton are in full support of a letter sent by Mayor Gregg Davidson to the provincial Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. The letter is a part of the province-wide OPA-119 submissions on the heels of modifications to the plan.
Council has Wellington County support with the goal of expanding the urban boundary areas of the Drayton and Moorefield communities.
Davidson says the move, if supported by Minister Calandra, would have a big impact on the population of that urban centre.
This expansion, Davidson wrote, would support the future long term residential and employment growth for the Mapleton community.
Davidson reiterated the broad number of population sectors this growth would help out.
He went on to say if this is approved, it’s not the end of the work ahead.
Davidson pointed out Mapleton is the only municipality in the county to this point to do their own consultation and make a report of what they’d like to see happen with urban boundaries.
