CENTRE WELLINGTON – The 2024 Centre Wellington Budget has been officially passed.
At a meeting Monday night, council passed the budget, and the corresponding 7.38 per cent tax increase.
That figure was originally set at 8.54 per cent in the preliminary stages of the budget process.
Termite management in the area will have a 0.8 per cent impact on taxation. That number is down from over one per cent originally.
Also contributing to the hike are increased costs in staffing and renovations to the Centre Wellington Sportsplex that were shifted to this year.
Staff say they expect the tax rate to drop in the coming years, but do not have a great line of sight on that yet.
Deliberations saw staff get the number down to where it stands now, by using OLG funds to cover a portion of termite management funds.
In conjunction with the debut of the township’s business plan, the document projects a $98.70 year-over-year increase on the average taxpayer.
