CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Centre Wellington Food Bank reports they have gained new households in 2023, jumping from 20 a day, closer to 30 households a day.
It’s a big change, says Curt McQueen, who just polished off his first holiday season as manager of the food bank.
While McQueen says he realizes it’s unfortunate to see the usage rising, he’s thankful for the support of the community in Centre Wellington.
He went on to say the recent surge in donations means more than people may realize.
McQueen stated they were well over 12-15,000 in terms of items brought in in December alone.
Despite the pandemic easing in recent years, McQueen says usage is expected to remain high.
A new tactic was used this year by the food bank, that McQueen said paid dividends.
McQueen encourages the community to continue their support in 2024.
The food bank reopens to clients with their regular schedule today.
