BELWOOD – A peacock on the loose is now safe in shelter at the Guelph Humane Society’s farm animal room.
“A resident of Belwood called the Guelph Humane Society at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning (January 14) to report that a stray peacock had come onto her property. The peacock had been seen in the area previously, and the resident was able to contain the bird under her deck,” a Facebook post from the society reads.
An animal services officer was able to safely capture the bird and take it back to the shelter where ‘Perry,’ as he is now known by staff, currently rests.
The peacock will be held for five days per the township’s animal control bylaw before put up for the usual adoption process.
