WELLINGTON NORTH – Council in Wellington North welcomed a new agreement with open arms at a meeting Monday that will see additional weekly waste collection in the downtown areas of Arthur and Mount Forest.
The new agreement includes a recommendation that the cost for this additional service be included in the 2024 operational budget with the opportunity for both BIA’s to budget for this service in 2025.
Councillor Sherry Burke told council this will put a certain township department at more ease.
Councillor Penny Renken says this project is money invested for the betterment of the community.
Burke says she recognizes the hot button this issue has been within the community.
The additional pickup will take place on Thursdays.
Township staff say they have identified the County BR&E allocation of $25,000, provided annually, as a potential funding source to cover the unbudgeted increment of this cost.
