WELLINGTON COUNTY – Each day during a new challenge to the Grove Youth Wellness Hubs there’s a target which corresponds to a mental health fact. The Push-Up Challenge officially kicks off February 1st.
The challenge, which originated in Australia, arms participants with a goal of completing a series of push-ups in 23 days from February 1st to 23rd.
Communications specialist at CMHA Waterloo Wellington Megan Brady says the number of push-ups was selected with intent, chosen to represent the mental health struggles of many Canadians.
While the official launch is in February for the national challenge, Brady says many in the community are getting a head start.
She added it’s no accident the push-up was selected as the exercise of choice, as it has some metaphorical value.
This is the inaugural push-up challenge for the Grove Youth Wellness Hubs across Guelph and Wellington County.

Brady went on to say the funds raised will come back into the community.
Brady explained up to 70 per cent of young adults living with mental health challenges say their symptoms began in early childhood.
She detailed the importance of getting active, and how it can be beneficial to your mental health to work towards a common goal.
