MOUNT FOREST – A joint statement from Wellington North Fire and the Wellington Catholic District School Board informs parents and residents a Thursday fire that closed St. Mary Catholic Elementary School will see the school remain closed for repairs.
There was extensive smoke, fire and water damage in the school as a result of the fire.
The board says they communicated with parents early yesterday morning about the emergency situation that was occurring at the school and parents made arrangements for their children for the day.
An email to The Grand at 101 from Director of Education Mike Glazier goes on to say the school will require repair and restoration and will not be available to students while this is being completed.
“The timeline for this work is undetermined.”
Glazier stated the board is “grateful for the patience and understanding of our parent community as we respond to this issue and we are grateful for the support members in our community have shared with our school community.”
