NEWS RELEASE GRAND RIVER CONSERVATION AUTHORITY
The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is terminating the Flood Warning message previously in effect and is issuing a Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety message for the entire Grand River Watershed.
GRCA Reservoirs
The GRCA’s multi-purpose reservoirs at Belwood, Conestogo, Guelph, Luther, Woolwich, Laurel, and Shade’s Mills were operated to reduce downstream flooding during recent events. Stored water is now being slowly released to return reservoirs to their normal level for this time of year and downstream flows will remain elevated through the week.
Stay safe
Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard. Any ice-covered bodies of water are considered unsafe. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from all water bodies.
This message will remain in effect until 12 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024.
