WELLINGTON COUNTY – Four members of Wellington County council and four from the City of Guelph, appointed every two years, will form a new committee known as the Joint Social Services and Land Ambulance Committee, pending the approval of a report.
The recommendation is for the committee to be effective April 1st, 2024.
The report says at an October meeting, Guelph city council passed a resolution to work with the county’s warden and CAO on this issue.
Warden Andy Lennox, Mayor Cam Guthrie and both CAO’s met in late 2023 to address the terms of Guelph’s resolution, and address the county’s interest in land ambulance service.
It goes on to say the county will bring forward policy matters, operational reporting, and proposed budget impacts for the three areas of social services to the committee for consideration and recommendation to county council.
“Final disposition of recommendations will be reported to the Committee at the next meeting following decision.”
The report will be before the County’s Admin, Finance and HR Committee for approval at a meeting on Tuesday.
