CENTRE WELLINGTON – A recommendation to head before Centre Wellington council Monday suggests awarding a single source contract to spur Eighth Line construction.
The contract recommended to be awarded to BioDiffusion Inc. would include the supply and application of road base stabilization bio-resin at an upset limit of $191,868 including non-rebate HST.
In the summer of 2023, the Cambridge company and the Township collaborated on a trial of a road base treatment on a 300-metre section of Eighth Line West in former Pilkington Township.
Based on the demonstrated success of the road base stabilization, the township of Centre Wellington is recommending a larger scale application in 2024 on the Eighth Line West from Sideroad 11 to Wellington Road 17.
The total length of application would be in the range of 3 kilometers of roadway.
Expected benefits for the township through this contract include increased structural capacity for the roadway plus reduced greenhouse gas emissions among others.
The report will be headed before council in Centre Wellington at the 6 p.m. meeting.
You can find the full report as a part of the council agenda.
