CENTRE WELLINGTON – Heritage week is celebrated annually across Ontario during the third week of February.
Centre Wellington celebrated the week by recognizing local citizens and honouring the efforts of those invested in protecting and enhancing heritage in the community.
Fred Gordon and Paul Jarsky, owners of 6550 Gerrie Road, were recognized for their efforts with the heritage property conservation award.
The property, a mid-19th century 2-storey Georgian style stone dwelling, a media release says, has long represented the Gerrie family, early settlers in Elora for over 150 years.
The heritage property conservation award went to Rebecca and Jesse Leslie, who own a rubblestone dwelling with a red-brick addition.
Owners Julie Galloway and Katherine and Dave Bradley took home the heritage property restoration award for their work on an 1880’s stone-revival cottage on Geddes Street.
The heritage property stewardship award went to Sarah Barber and MacLean Hann. A media release states these historic and renovated 19th-century buildings help revitalize the downtown core.
The heritage infill award went to Elora Distilling Company.
Meanwhile, the heritage property rehabilitation award went to Gillian and Colin Ellis, business owners at 19 George Street.
