WELLINGTON COUNTY – Dufferin County has already transitioned its recycling services to be supplied by a producer.
Meanwhile, Wellington County is set to make the jump in 2025. Councillor Steve O’Neill was before council Thursday to give an update on the process.
He said education will be a distinct focus for staff throughout the change.
O’Neill went on to say Wellington County is hoping to find some clarity from Dufferin County and other municipalities who have already begun the switch, or will soon.
O’Neill told the Grand at 101 despite the possibility of an obstruction to service for businesses and other institutions, he’s confident council will come back with an option to continue the service for these establishments.
Another key point O’Neill made was all communications regarding recycling services, including calls from residents, would be handled solely by the producer.
The transition period will be between July 1st and December 31st, 2025 in the county.
