WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has issued a watershed conditions statement ahead of heavy rainfall Friday evening into Sunday.
The conservation authority says a strong low-pressure system is forecast to move through the Grand River watershed starting late Friday, through to Sunday, March 10th, bringing widespread rain and potentially mixed precipitation or snow as the system tapers off on Sunday.
They say the bulk of the rain, up to 25 milimetres, is forecast for Saturday, March 9th.
In total, 20 to 35 milimetres of precipitation is expected across the watershed by the time the system moves out of the area on Sunday.
The GRCA says no significant flooding is expected, and that resevoirs will be used to reduce downstream flooding.
They are however encouraging safety around local bodies of water due to elevated river flow.
