GUELPH – Two people are dead following a house fire in Guelph Monday morning.
At around 12:40am, Guelph Police say a 911 call was received regarding a house fire near Edinburgh Road South and Wilsonview Avenue.
Emergency responders attended the scene, and the Guelph Fire Department was able to put out the fire.
Police say two adult female residents of the home succumbed to their injuries as a result of the fire. Two other occupants were able to escape and were treated at hospital for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
At this time, police say the Ontario Fire Marshall’s office has been contacted and will be investigating with the assistance of the Guelph Police Service and the Guelph Fire Department.
This investigation is ongoing.
