FERGUS – A decision report will be before Centre Wellington council on Monday regarding the South Fergus Secondary Plan.
The recommendation from staff is to approve the application, and submit to the County of Wellington OPA number 14 for approval.
Furthermore, it is recommended the corresponding bylaw be given three readings and for council to endorse the master environmental servicing plan.
Staff say overall, the secondary plan has been well received and there have been no oral or written submissions filed in opposition.
The plan is expected to bring 7,000 residents and over 130 jobs to the south end of the town. It is expected to accommodate a mix of over 3,000 low-density residential, medium-density residential, and commercial-residential apartments.
Staff note in their report for Monday’s council meeting resident concerns throughout the process have mainly related to traffic, servicing, design and natural heritage which will be addressed during future planning applications.
The township say they are currently undertaking a municipal class environmental assessment study, for upgrades to the Union Street Sewage Pumping Station in order to service the planned development.
Open session on Monday will begin after a planning public meeting that begins at 6 p.m.
