HARRISTON – The Director of the Special Investigations Unit found “no reasonable grounds” to believe an OPP officer committed a criminal offence in a Wellington County incident last November.
The SIU says on November 21st, officers were dispatched to a residence in Harriston after hearing from a child welfare worker who was threatened by two males. The males, according to the SIU, two youths, damaged property, threatened officers, and threw objects at officers.
An officer shot and struck the youths once each with a less-lethal firearm. They were arrested and taken to hospital where they were cleared of any serious injuries.
Following the release of a Full Director’s Report, there were no charges laid against the officer.
