WELLINGTON COUNTY – Since the spring of 2023, county staff have been working with leadership at Stepping Stone, the County’s Construction Manager and Grinham Architects on the viability of developing 23 Gordon Street in Guelph to increase the number of emergency shelter beds and transitional housing spaces in the community.
A report before council Thursday will provide an update of where the project stands now.
The report notes in January, reports provided an update on the proposed project with recommendations for pre-construction services.
Since this report and another regarding construction management, staff have continued to negotiate agreements with capital project funders and have executed a project management agreement with Stepping Stone. Staff have also worked with partners to finalize designs.
The facility, on top of the existing 27 emergency shelter beds on the first floor, is expected to accommodate an additional 12 new transitional housing units and 24 new beds.
The council meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. The report will be presented as a part of the Social Services Committee update.
