FERGUS – Centre Wellington’s new Business Park in Fergus has its first tenant.
On Thursday, it was announced that Hammond Manufacturing Company Limited is acquiring 11.5 acres within the Business Park in the northeast of Fergus.
The 45 acres of land was purchased in January 2020 and is located at 6518 First Line, Fergus.
Hammond Manufacturing says it manufactures a broad range of products for the electronic and electrical products industry, including metallic and non-metallic enclosures, racks, small cases, outlet strips, surge suppressors, and electronic transformers. It also brings with it the promise of at least 100 jobs.
Alex Stirling, executive vice president, explained that available, serviced land is hard to come by, so when they got word that Centre Wellington was establishing a business park, they expressed interest immediately.
“Our company needs to expand to continue to grow in our industry. This site will be our new manufacturing hub to meet future growth. We at Hammond are excited to become a contributing member of the community.” said Stirling.
Centre Wellington Mayor Shawn Watters said the Township bought the 45 acres of land that is now the business park at the beginning of 2020 and took a “build it and they will come” approach.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hammond Manufacturing, a long-standing and reputable business, to Centre Wellington,” said Mayor Watters. “Their presence will bring hundreds of jobs and generate significant economic and social opportunities for our community. We look forward to the positive impact they will have on our area. Welcome to Centre Wellington!”
The Hammond facility is expected to open in about two years’ time.
