WELLINGTON COUNTY – The County of Wellington is being recognized as a “leader in sustainability.”
Call2Recycle Canada Inc. is a program to collect batteries and granted the Leader in Sustainability Award to the County for exceptional commitment to the environment and responsible battery management.
In 2023, Wellington County collected 11,173 kilograms of batteries, making it one of the top performers. That represents a 10.8 per cent increase over 2022.
“This is the third year in a row that Wellington County has received this prestigious award,” said Stephen O’Neill, Solid Waste Services Committee Chair, in a media release. “This award recognizes the residents of Wellington County and their commitment to protect our environment and keep hazardous materials out of our landfills.”
