NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal, off-road collision on the Elora Cataract Trail.
On July 28, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision along the Elora Cataract Trail, near the Fourth Line, Erin. It was reported that an off-road motorcycle had struck a gate, and the lone rider was seriously injured.
Emergency services responded and the 34-year-old operator from Grimsby, was pronounced deceased at scene.
Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. The office of the Chief Coroner was notified and attended the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and anyone with information related to it is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.
The Elora Cataract Trailway links the Grand and Credit watersheds and follows the old Canadian Pacific railroad bed. It runs from Elora to the Forks of Credit Provincial Park at Cataract. The Grand River Conservation Authority (G.R.C.A.) and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority own the trail and manage it in conjunction with the Elora Cataract Trailway Association.
