FERGUS – The Ponsonby Recreation Club has presented a donation of $655 to the Groves Hospital Foundation, bringing their total contributions to nearly $20,000 since 2006.
The funds were raised during the club’s Annual Summer Bottle Drive, which has become a staple of the community’s fundraising efforts.
Shirley Obergan, President of the Ponsonby Recreation Club, presented the cheque to Sarah Sheehan of the Groves Hospital Foundation.
The donation will go towards the purchase of a new CT Scanner, a vital piece of medical equipment for the hospital.
This year’s donation was especially significant, as the Ponsonby Recreation Club celebrated its 50th Anniversary in June.
The club, operated primarily by volunteers, has been a cornerstone of the community for five decades.
