OTTAWA – Two Fergus residents have been nominated to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal.
In a media release, Senator for Ontario, Rob Black announced his nominations for recipients of the Coronation Medal which commemorates the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as King of Canada.
“To be an eligible candidate, one must have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region, or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada,” the media release said.
Nominees include two Fergus residents
- Russell Gordon Gammon – Fergus, ON (Agriculture, Education, History)
- Susan Lorraine Harrop – Fergus, ON (Agriculture, Arts/Culture, Education)
Also nominated are five Rockwood residents and two Guelph residents.
- Cathy Lennon – Rockwood, ON (Agriculture, Community Service)
- Donald Wilbert Lobb – Rockwood, ON (Agriculture, Conservation, Education)
- Tim May – Rockwood, ON (Agriculture, Education/Public Awareness)
- Lillie Ann Morris – Rockwood, ON (Agriculture, Conservation, Education)
- Wendy Whittaker – Rockwood, ON (Agriculture)
- Christine Oldfield – Guelph, ON (Agriculture, Community Service, Youth Development/Support)
- Kelly Ann Daynard – Guelph, ON (Agriculture, Education/Public Awareness)
The media release says in recognizing these individuals, Black honours their exceptional dedication and contributions to Canada and their communities.
“Their achievements exemplify the values and commitment that the King Charles III Coronation Medal seeks to celebrate, reflecting the strength and diversity of our nation,” the release said.
