CENTRE WELLINGTON – Several roadways around the township will see lower speed limits following a council vote last night.
Centre Wellington staff recommended lowering the speed limits in certain neighbourhoods.
Manager of Engineering, Adam Gilmore, said there are several new areas that are recommended to have a reduced speed limit.
Gilmore says the pilot project isn’t over yet, and they will continue to examine additional neighbourhoods.
Council asked when the new limits would be in place. Gilmore said there was a backlog in regards to sign installation but the new areas should have signs installed soon.
According to Gilmore the suggested neighbourhoods are chosen based on data and resident input.
In addition to the news speed limit roadway sections, the speed limit on Seventh Line, 300 meters north of Sideroad 30 to Sideroad 30, will be lowered from 80 km/h to 50 km/h due to future rehabilitation on a bridge in that section.
