NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
The Wellington Catholic District School Board Trustees selected their Chair and Vice-Chair for the coming year at the Board’s Policy and Corporate Services meeting Monday night.
Marino Gazzola has been re-acclaimed as Wellington Catholic DSB Chair. Gazzola is a long-serving member of the Wellington Catholic District School Board having served for over 30 years as trustee including holding positions as Chair and Vice-Chair. He is currently vice-president of the Ontario Catholic School Board Trustees Association (OCSTA) and served, previously, as president, vice-president, and regional representative. Chair Gazzola has also served as a member of the Board of Directors and key leadership positions with the Canadian Catholic School Board Trustees Association (CCSTA), including a three-year term as President. Gazzola has been a strong advocate for Catholic Education and ensuring students have the best educational opportunities possible in his terms as trustee.
“It is an honour to serve once again as the Chair of the Wellington Catholic District School Board. I appreciate the support and confidence of my fellow trustees and will do my best to serve in this role and as representative of the Board of Trustees,” shared Gazzola.
Sebastian Dal Bo will be serving as Vice-Chair, alongside Gazzola. Another longstanding member of the Wellington Catholic DSB, Dal Bo has served as trustee for over a decade, which has included previous terms as vice-chair. As a former principal and teacher with the Wellington Catholic District School Board, Dal Bo brings experience and a strong connection to the district in this role.
“I am grateful for the nomination and look forward to serving as vice-chair. As trustees we are a team and will continue to work as a team to help support our students, staff and families in this upcoming term,” shared Dal Bo.
In their service as Chair and Vice-Chair, Gazzola and Dal Bo will focus on the implementation of a new multi-year strategic plan, budget and policy oversight, and a focus on ensuring student achievement and well-being are at the forefront of board decisions.
Each will serve a term of one year, commencing the first Board Meeting in December.
