WELLINGTON COUNTY – As a new year begins, housing and homelessness remain on the forefront in Guelph and Wellington County. Before Town of Minto council Tuesday will be an update on the situation, as the County begins to stress its significance locally.
Minto council will be presented a pair of reports by David Anderson, County councillor and Vice Chair of the Social Services Committee.
Anderson told the Grand at 101 while the severity of the homelessness problem may be on the forefront in the City of Guelph, its important to keep County municipalities up to speed as well.
Anderson explained having mental health and addictions support available in smaller pockets is one step in what he says is “not a quick fix.”
He went on to stress that the “by name list” program is also something that can be utilized by those outside of Guelph.
Anderson added tapping into the knowledge of those who have experienced homelessness is part of what guides his committees.
