CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Grand at 101 sat down with Centre Wellington mayor Shawn Watters to recap the year that was, and look ahead to 2025.
Trying to develop and work on expanding the urban boundary while protecting agricultural land were key focuses for Watters and Centre Wellington council in 2024.
The mayor said that was a “big job” last year, and moving forward he expects strategic plans to wrap up, and public feedback to guide the township’s future.
He went on to discuss parking and the future work council will do to try and address the lack of available spots.
That festival, Watters said, put on display some of the parking shortcomings in the community.
He says the pressures of impending change is his biggest takeaway watching Centre Wellington grow over the last 25 years. Watters added the current council is well prepared to close out their term strong.
Watters served on the last Elora council, and has had a front row seat to watch Centre Wellington grow into what it is today.
Connecting the community, he says, through community engagement and the work of council, is a goal as he prepares for 2025.
