GUELPH – An Ottawa man has been arrested after a Guelph woman lost more than $13,000 in an investment scam.
Last April, Guelph Police say a then-19-year-old Guelph woman began communicating with a man after seeing a social media post.
Police say they met in person in August, during which the man described how he buys and resells high-end watches and invited the woman to invest.
Over the next two months, the woman transferred more than $13,000 without seeing any return on this supposed investment and in December a warrant was taken out for the man’s arrest.
The male turned himself in on Thursday.
A 22-year-old Ottawa man is charged with fraud over $5,000.
