GUELPH – A Guelph man has been arrested in connection with a swatting incident which saw tactical officers dispatched to a south-end address late last year.
Just before 11 a.m. December 27, police received a call from a male claiming he was being held at gunpoint at an address on Cole Road. Several officers, including members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit, responded to the address with guns drawn. The female resident was home alone and the call was deemed to be a hoax. The caller was the resident’s former partner.
On Saturday a 33-year-old man was arrested by another police service in Northern Ontario and charged with public mischief. He was released to appear in Guelph court July 11.
