NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – A traffic-stop resulting in 11 charges.
On June 14, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit were performing a proactive traffic enforcement initiative, which resulted in a traffic stop being conducted on Belsyde Ave East within Fergus.
As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old from Ariss is charged under the Highway Traffic Act, Environmental Protection Act, Tobacco Tax Act, and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
- Owner- operating vehicle – emission control equipment not complying with regulations
- Defective braking system
- No muffler – motor vehicle
- Improper tires (two counts)
- Fail to surrender permit for trailer
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph at a later date.
