WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County OPP are out with a message to the public, not to leave dogs in their cars.
In a post to social media, OPP say they have seen a recent increase in dogs being left in vehicles during this hot summer weather.
Police say even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a car can soar within minutes, creating a deadly environment for your pet.
Dogs can’t regulate heat like humans, and heatstroke can set in fast.
Local By-Law charge is $360 for the first offence.
OPP says if you see an animal left alone in a car, give them a call.
“Let’s keep our furry friends safe. If they can’t come with you, leave them at home,” police said in a post.
