CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township of Centre Wellington has received its first quarter payment (April 1 – June 30) from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting Elements Casino Grand River in Elora.
The first quarter payment totals $744,760.
Since the gaming site opened in December 2003, Centre Wellington has received $45,608,176.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement that is consistently applied across all land-based casino sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“OLG is a strong partner that provides substantial benefits to Wellington County,” said Joseph Racinsky, Member of Provincial Parliament for Wellington-Halton Hills said in a media release. “In addition to creating jobs at Elements Casino Grand River, important investments in Wellington County’s public services are made possible through OLG’s sharing of casino revenue.”
Since 1994, host communities have received almost $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
