GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a novice driver from Fergus following a single-motor vehicle collision.
On August 14, 2025, at approximately 8 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle in a ditch. The driver was located on foot a short distance away.

A novice driver from Fergus has been arrested for impaired drivng following a single-motor vehicle collision on the morning of Aug. 14.

A 27 year-old male from Fergus, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 29, 2025.
