NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual in connection with two fires in Guelph-Eramosa Township.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on August 15, 2025, the Wellington County OPP along with local fire services responded to a report of a fire at a vacant property on Mill Road in Guelph-Eramosa Township. While on scene, police were alerted to a second grass fire nearby.
With the assistance of members of the public, a suspect was identified and arrested within proximity to the scene shortly after. Thankfully, both fires were quickly extinguished with minimal damage and there were no reported injuries.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old, from Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with the following:
- Arson – Damage to Property
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
The accused was held for a bail hearing on August 15, 2025, and subsequently remanded into custody.
