FERGUS – Now that the old Strathallan Park playground has been removed, the Township of Centre Wellington is looking to begin upgrades next summer.
At Monday’s Centre Wellington Council meeting, Pat Newson, Managing Director of Community Services, announced staff are working with a landscape architect to provide the township with high-level options regarding the future of Strathallan Park, located on Strathallan Street in north Fergus.
The township declared Strathallan Park a surplus property in January for a potential small high school attached to St. Joseph Catholic School, but it was eventually rescinded since the Wellington Catholic District School Board was no longer interested in the rezoning of the property.
Newson says they will also be looking for community engagement for the new playground.
A formal update will be brought to council for consideration at a later date.
