NEWS RELEASE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTRE OF NORTH AND CENTRE WELLINGTON
The Community Resource Centre of North and Centre Wellington (CRCNCW) is excited to announce the launch of their Licensed Before and After School Program at Grand River Public School.
Earlier this year the CRCNCW was advised that the boundary lines for Grand River Public School would impact the boundary lines for Salem Public School, a site that CRCNCW was currently operating a Before and After School Program. At that time, the CRCNCW entered into discussions with the Upper Grand District School Board (“UGDSB”) regarding the potential to follow the families they currently supported to Grand River Public School. The parties came together to collaborate on a solution that would meet the needs of current and potential families who require Licensed Childcare in the area.
The Program is set to launch on the first day of school, welcoming both children from Salem Public School and Grand River Public School. While operations will begin small to support the transition, the site is licensed for a Kindergarten and School Age Program.
“We continue to work with all partners to ensure that we are addressing gaps in the community. As we all know, licensed childcare is vital to ensure that families can continue to work and meet the needs of their family,” states Alyssandra Kent, Executive Director at CRCNCW.
“To be able to add quality childcare into a community where I live is extremely important to me. Our team is ready to go for the first day of school and excited to welcome back the kiddos we have watched grow up over the years,” states Coral Tonkin, Manager of Licensed Childcare at CRCNCW.
In April of 2024, the CRCNCW joined many operators in the County of Wellington that transitioned to the Wellington-Guelph Childcare Application and Waitlist System. All families requiring Before and/or After Programs at Salem Public School and/or Grand River Public School, or any of the other programs listed below, are directed to create an account on the system and join the waitlist. The CRCNCW does not provide any spaces outside of the families who have joined the waitlist.
The CRCNCW currently operates Before and After School Programs at:
- JD Hogarth Public School;
- James McQueen Public School;
- Elora Public School;
- Grand River Public School;
- St. Mary’s Catholic School;
- St. Joseph’s Catholic School;
