WELLINGTON NORTH – The Council of the Township of Wellington North has proclaimed September 2025 as Crime Stoppers Month in the Township. The proclamation was made by Council at the September 8, 2025 regular meeting of council, which also happens to be the 49th anniversary of the founding of the Crime Stoppers organization. Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) was established in
1988.
Councillor Steve McCabe and Township staff, along with member of CSGW, Wellington County OPP, Wellington North Fire Service, Victim Services Wellington and Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis, celebrated the occasion on Friday, September 12 with a flag raising at the Mount Forest Museum and Archives at 11 a.m.
“The Township of Wellington North is proud to declare this month as Crime Stoppers Month across our community,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “We deeply value the dedication and impact of Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington. Their efforts have not only helped reunite residents with stolen property but have also played a crucial role in holding offenders accountable. We grateful for their continued partnership in promoting
public safety and civic responsibility.”
“Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington appreciates the ongoing support of the council and staff of Township of Wellington North, along with the residents who are loyal supporters of our various fundraisers, community events and crime prevention initiatives,” stated Sarah Bowers-Peter, Program Coordinator for CSGW. “We know the municipality and its residents are active in community safety. CSGW Month is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate and reflect on how we can reduce and resolve crime.”
