FERGUS – The Fergus Fall Fair said it set a new attendance record this year.
In a media release Thursday, the fair says it saw early 20,000 patrons visit the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex grounds on the weekend of Sept. 12, 13, and 14th.
The Friday night of the event saw the largest Friday crowd in fair history, and advanced online ticket sales also increased significantly this year.
“This year’s Fergus Fall Fair was a huge success,” says Denise Kankainen, Fergus Agricultural Society vice president. “This is the fourth year in a row that we have set attendance records, which is an amazing accomplishment for a non-profit organization run by volunteers.”
Over 3,500 entries were registered in this year’s fair competitions. Handicraft, culinary arts, youth, photography, and art were the sections with the most participation.
“We want to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, exhibitors, vendors and attendees who made the fair possible,” says Kankainen. “Our volunteers work very hard to host the community and the generous support of sponsors is what has allowed us to maintain admission fees despite rising costs.”
The Fergus Agricultural Society board of directors is interested in receiving feedback on this year’s fair as well as suggestions on events and entertainment that the community would like to see in the future.
