CENTRE WELLINGTON – A local performer is getting her opportunity to stand in the limelight on the stage with Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy Production’s performance of “Mean Girl – High School Version,” that opened on September 10 at the Hamilton Family Theatre in Cambridge, and will continue until September 21, 2025.
Ella Blair, 15, of Centre Wellington is part of the understudy chorus which entails not only being a part of the ensemble cast, but also acting as understudy for one of the main characters.
The time commitment to put on a professional production is intense. Balancing her performance schedule with high school academics is a challenge, but for Blair, it’s worth it.
A ‘triple-threat’ performer, Blair credits her years of training at Stage Presence School of Dance, in Fergus, for helping her pursue her role in “Mean Girls – High School Version.” She studies tap, ballet, jazz and musical theatre.

Being a part of the Drayton Entertainment Youth Academy has helped her set her goals, and achieve them, an experience that has the young performer looking forward.
Blair says theatre has always been a part of her life which inspires her to want to pursue this artform as a future goal, whether in the spotlight or backstage.
When this production is over, Blair is set for her next performance in Drayton Entertainment’s, “Cinderella: The Panto,” set to take the stage at St. Jacobs Country Playhouse from November 27 to December 28, 2025.
