NEWS RELEASE: FERGUS SCOTTISH FESTIVAL
FERGUS – The Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games Board of Directors were pleased to present cheques to representatives of the following local community organizations for their support on festival weekend: Elora Rocks Lawn Bowling, Highland Rugby Club, Elora Curling Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Centre Wellington, Community Resource Centre of North & Centre Wellington, Centre Wellington Food Bank, Fergus Curling Club, Rotary District 7080e Club, Royal City Roller Derby, Grand River Mustangs, Fergus-Elora Rotary, 4-H Exchange and the Fergus & District Camera Club.
The Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games donated close to $23,000 to these local organizations, with festival representatives noting how incredibly grateful the festival is for these wonderful partnerships on festival weekend.
“We, at the Fergus Scottish Festival, are proud to be contributors to these local community organizations, with four new groups this year for a total of 13 groups, 1,481 hours and $23,000 raised for these organizations. As far as records go this year, this was one of them,” noted president Matthew Bennett-Monty.
“We are truly proud of this community fundraising initiative, which continues to grow and get better with each year,” added Elizabeth Bender, executive director.
The Fergus Scottish Festival saw 28,000 guests this year as it celebrated its 80th anniversary in August.
