WELLINGTON COUNTY – Two Arthur women are going bald for a good cause — helping raise funds for a new Hospice facility in Aboyne.
Susan O’Neill and Wendy Vroenhoven are aiming to raise $5,000 through their head-shaving event on Saturday, October 25th. O’Neill, who has shaved her head for charity before, says this time it’s also about raising awareness for end-of-life care in the community.
Dr. Clarissa Burke says while the province is providing some support, local fundraising is still essential to make the long-awaited Hospice project a reality. The new facility, first envisioned by six local nurses in 1972, is now moving closer to construction.
