WELLINGTON COUNTY – As we head into the Thanksgiving long weekend, Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers to be safe and share the road with others so we all arrive safely.
This long weekend, OPP will be participating in Operation Impact, which is a provincial traffic safety initiative focused on the “Big 4” leading causes of death and injury on the roads, including impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, and lack of seatbelt use.
OPP Sgt Kerry Schmidt says the OPP have investigated 269 road fatalities already this year.
OPP says the Thanksgiving weekend is traditionally one of the busiest travel weekends of the fall season.
Police are asking all drivers to be patient, courteous, and fully focused behind the wheel.
