FERGUS – It was a busy weekend for the Fergus Whalers with 3 games on the schedule.
On Friday, the team travelled to Walkerton to take on the Capitals, with the Whalers prevailing by a score of 7 to 3.
Jake Lesser, with a hat trick, led the attack, while goalie Carter Curran was solid in net for the Whalers.
Saturday, Fergus headed up Hwy 6 for the first game of a back-to-back battle with the Mount Forest Patriots.
The Whalers came away with the victory over their Pollock Division rivals by a score of 6 to 3 in an entertaining match between the two teams. Trevor Woods, with his 7th win of the season, backstopped the Whalers to victory.
Back home at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex on Sunday, the rematch went back and forth early until the Whalers pulled away in the second period for a convincing 8 to 2 victory. Liam Eveleigh and Jake Lesser led the way with 2 goals each for the Whalers. Noah Lundgren picked up the win in the net for Fergus.
The Whalers 3-win weekend extended their streak of at least one point earned to 10 consecutive games.
The team is on the road next weekend for games in Wingham on Friday and Kincardine on Saturday.
Next home game for the Whalers is Sunday, November 30th, against the Kincardine Bulldogs at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex, puck drop is 3pm.
