NEWS RELEASE TOWN OF MINTO
PALMERSTON – Following the recent cancellation due to weather conditions, the Town of Minto is pleased to announce that the Fire & Ice celebration has been rescheduled for Family Day on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Fire & Ice, an event in partnership with Minto Fire, the Palmerston Lions Club, and Blessings to You Centre, on Family Day will feature almost all the same activities and attractions planned for New Year’s Eve. In addition to the fireworks display at 8:00 p.m. put on by the Palmerston Lions Club, there will be face painting, glitter tattoos, magic and fire shows, and more. However, organizers would like to note that public skating will not be available during this rescheduled event.
The original decision to cancel was made in consultation with the County of Wellington Emergency Services staff, prioritizing the safety of residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff. While the cancellation was disappointing for both organizers and the community, the committee is pleased to be able to reschedule the fun at an alternate date.
“We were very disappointed to cancel Fire & Ice originally, knowing how much the community looks forward to this event,” says Marketing & Community Development Coordinator, Erin Raftis, “We’re excited to bring it back on Family Day and provide an opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy the celebration in a safe and festive way.”
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and help spread the word by sharing the updated event details with friends and neighbours.
More information will be shared closer to the event date through the Town of Minto’s website and social media channels.
