A new partnership between the Upper Grand District School Board and the Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington will offer added support for youth facing mental health and substance use challenges.
The Care and Treatment Education Program (CTEP) is designed for students in Grades 8 to 12 whose need for treatment outweighs their academic needs. The program combines classroom learning with on-site therapeutic support, helping students continue earning school credits while addressing mental health and substance use concerns.
CMHA Waterloo Wellington Director of Services Krista Sibbilin says the program was developed in response to increasingly complex needs among local youth. The goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where students can stabilize, build skills, and eventually transition back to their home schools.
Jennifer Myles, Manager of Children’s Services at CMHA WW, says supports will be tailored to each student’s individual strengths and goals.
The program will operate out of The Grove Youth Wellness Hub in Guelph, with referrals going through CMHA services.
