CENTRE WELLINGTON – Short Term Rental Accommodation business owners and Bed and Breakfast operators have between now and March 23 to wrap their thoughts around the proposed changes to the DRAFT Short Term Rental Accommodation and B&B Establishments Licensing Bylaw that will cap the number of licensed units to 265.
Township of Centre Wellington staff brought the draft report before Council at the February 23 meeting.
Some highlights of the new draft STRA by-law include the following:
- Having a License Appeal Tribunal with the inclusion of a demerit point stem to be used when considering issue or refusing licensing
- Limiting licenses to one per property with a three year license period
- Establishing a maximum occupancy of eight (8) or two (2) persons per bedroom
- Bed and breakfast establishments are restricted to the primary residence of the owner or on the same property as the owner resides
The draft licensing by-law will be posted online to the township website Connect CW for the public to review and offer comments.
A public meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2026. Following the public meeting, a report and draft by-law will be brought forward to Council for consideration at a future meeting.
