NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – A driver is charged following a traffic stop in Erin.
On March 3, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check to examine the sobriety of drivers at the intersection of Spiers Road and Tenth Line in Erin, where officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that avoided the spot check.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old from Erin, is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Driving while under suspension,
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Provincial Offences Court in Guelph on June 17, 2026.
A 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
